Beauty Bites!: Real Men Don’t Cry - They Moisturise

Dry, sandpaper-textured skin; No woman's turn on. But will lathering up with moisturiser strike a blow to your masculinity? The very question seems a bit out of touch with the current reality. Take a look in the mens care products, it has boomed in the past decade as they have become more culturally accepted. More gender-specific versions of skin care products are emerging - Nivea for Men, LÓreal Men Expert, Neutrogena Men, SK II Men, Biotherm Homme and even Men’s Biore. All these products allow men to take care of their skin without sacrificing their manliness.

Even though guys are are not automatically inclined to look after their face beyond basic grooming, skin is still skin and it can certainly benefit from being moisturised as well as being protected from the sun. 

In today’s world, skin care has become one of the most important daily activities and is receiving more attention more more than ever. While it is a common activity for women, it is just as important that men take care of their skin as well.

Every man, regardless of the way how they look, should have a proper skin care and grooming routine. Not only will you look and feel better, but taking care of your skin and hair is just as essential as taking care of your muscles and mind.

Does skin care and grooming actually matter for men?

Guys do not get together and talk about skin care or grooming, like most women do. They talk about sports, women, or their life adventures. Nor, growing up, do most men get taught by someone on how to properly take care of their skin, unlike most women.

So why, as a man, should you care about grooming and skin care? Because your face is your money maker and unless you hit the genetic lottery (e.g. Godfrey Gao, Nichkhun, Choi Siwon), your face will not take care of itself magically. Not only does a well groomed face attract a significant other more easily, but it could also put you in an advantage in your career. 

A common belief among men is that women want masculine, alpha men. But what they really want is  men who are well-groomed. If you have bad skin, greasy hair, you are not getting far with women no matter how good your “character” or “personality” is. The modern man has to essentially groom like women in order to attract them.
